Accessibility

Vrak is for everyone. At the museum, there should be as few obstacles as possible and everyone should feel warmly welcome. Here is information about accessibility in the museum.

Toilets

A toilet with a changing table is available on the ground floor next to the museum shop. The door opening is 1 metre (3.3 ft.) wide. An even larger toilet with a changing table for babies is also available on the upper floor, between the exhibits “The Assignment” and “Epilogue”. The door opening is 0.9 metres (2.95 ft.) wide.

Main entrance

To the right of the revolving doors is a wide door for entering the museum. An automatic door opener is located 1.5 metres (4.9 ft.) from the main entrance door. 

Stairs and floor level differences

All public spaces are accessible for wheelchairs and prams/baby carriages. 

The staircase in the middle of the museum is 2.6 metres (8.5 ft.) wide and equipped with railings on both sides. There is a bench in the middle of the stairs for resting. The staircase has a total of 29 steps: 15 from the entrance level to the bench and 14 steps more up to floor 2. The staircase has tactile markings on the first section of stairs on both floors.

Lifts

The museum has a lift. The door opening is 1.1 metres (3.6 ft.) wide and the lift interior 1.55 x 1.55 metres (just over 5 ft.). The weight limit is 1,200 kg (2,646 lbs.). The lift has automatic doors. It is not equipped with audio.

All public spaces are accessible for wheelchairs and prams/baby carriages. 

Parking

Two parking spots for people with special parking permission are available roughly 20 metres (66 ft.) from the main entrance. 

Hearing loops

Hearing loops are available for the upper floor.

Languages

Vrak – Museum of Wrecks aims to make the exhibits as accessible as possible for as many as possible. For anyone interested, special language support is available which will read the texts from the exhibits out loud from your mobile phone. Before you enter the exhibition area, scan the QR code with your phone to access this feature, or speak with a staff member who can help you get started. The exhibition texts are available in both Swedish and English.

Allergies

Fragrant products are used in one of the museum’s exhibitions and in the café.

Feel free to ask the café staff about what a food product contains. The café also serves gluten-free and lactose-free options. The food may contain traces of nuts.

Animals

Animals are not allowed into the museum except for trained service dogs.
