The Assignment

What does a maritime archaeologist do? Put on our VR headset and try for yourself! In this part of our exhibitions you can dive without getting wet, while you get to examine and document a wreck in virtual reality. But a maritime archaeologist does not just work below the surface. In this exhibition you learn how to date and find out more about findings through research in archives.

This kind of research has many different parts: archaeologists search, dive and analyse findings. It is almost always a teamwork – it takes many kinds of specialists in different fields. By looking for clues, and piecing together different finds we understand as much as possible about the lives and stories of previous generations.
