The Divided Sea
Findings from the bottom of the sea take you through the Baltic nations' common history. The findings from warships, trade ships and a sunken submarine tell their part of the Baltics’ story. The Divided Sea ends with the disaster of MS Estonia, a collective trauma for the Baltic nations.
The exhibition displays authentic photos and archival material: both in traditional ways and through multimedia and interactive moments. Findings from the different archaeological sites carry their stories of alliances, of war and trade, of life and death, of great historical moments and individual destinies.
The Divided Sea starts in the 17th century and tells the story of the warship Solen (The Sun), then tells history through different shipwrecks up until the Estonia disaster in 1994.
